It’s been a while since I’ve updated my news! I’m proud to say that Violet and the Velvets books #1 and #2 have been picking up great reviews and have been shortlisted for, longlisted for, and even won some awards!
Violet and the Velvets: The Case of the Missing Stuff was shortlisted for the 2025 New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults and for the 2026 New Zealand Booklovers Awards. There was tough competition, so it didn’t win either award (congratulations Li Chen and Sonya Wilson!), but being shortlisted is a prize all of its own.
Both The Case of the Missing Stuff and The Case of the Angry Ghost won Storylines Notable Book Awards in 2025, which was lovely recognition, and I’m thrilled to say they have also been longlisted for the ASLA DANZ Children’s Book Award, which recognises diversity in children’s books.
